Robert Anthony Melita (RAM) Memorial was established in loving memory of Robert Anthony Melita, a young man whose life was tragically cut short at age 21 by sudden cardiac arrest. RAM Memorial honors Robert’s life and legacy by empowering young adults to pursue their dreams through educational opportunities while raising awareness about heart health.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to assist worthy individuals with funds to access higher education. We firmly believe everyone deserves access to the tools and resources necessary to thrive, regardless of one’s background or circumstances.
At RAM Memorial, we are committed to helping others by providing scholarships and other educational related expenses to deserving young adults in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit status ensures that 100% of our net proceeds received via our golf tournament and general fundraising efforts goes directly towards assisting young adults' pursuit of academic success, translating into greater professional, and personal endeavors.
Currently, we are partnered with 2 programs at Preferred Behavioral Health Group; the LifeSet and Project Independance/Connect to Home Programs which houses The Family Unification Program & LifeSkills services providing scholarships to their students.
Both programs at Preferred Behavioral Health Group adhere to the mission of the Office of Housing/Division of Family and Community Partnership at DCF to support young adults in their transition to adulthood to achieve housing stability, economic self-sufficiency, interdependence, and engage in healthy lifestyles. Both programs offer are a supportive housing model designed to serve young adults ages 18+ who have been involved with the child welfare system and who are at a high risk for experiencing homelessness in adulthood.
In addition to our scholarship program, RAM Memorial is dedicated to promoting heart health awareness. We understand, firsthand, the devastating impact of sudden cardiac events. Our family is committed to facilitating heart health education initiatives by providing essential AED equipment, and delivering critical CPR training to minimize heart-related tragedies.
Our initiative began in 2014, by delivering CPR and AED training to 49,408 Monmouth County high school students (as of May 2024) and by lobbying our state capital to pass legislation that mandates CPR & AED training as a graduation requirement.
By combining our education and heart health advocacy efforts, we strive to create a brighter, healthier, and equitable future for generations to come. Join us in honoring Robert's memory and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others!
Each year we gather to celebrate your life and raise funds for scholarships in your name.
